About Metaloy Hard Chrome

The Original Metaloy Hard Chrome process is a very precise, high quality and professional finish for firearms. Through rigid quality control, Metaloy has attained a superior protective coating using a proprietary hybrid chromium catalyst for a finished product that is not attainable by conventional chromium plating. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: The end result is what we have come to call our “Starburst” finish. It is a light matte silver hard chrome finish. Not gray or dull and not too shiny. We believe it is a nice and very attractive finish that is second to none! We believe you will agree.

We also offer a ‘brushed’ finish on the flat sides of a slide. This is performed by hand with no aid of polishing compounds or wheels. The result is as attractive contrast while maintaining edges and pin holes.

Metaloy Hard Chrome will not chip or peel unless there is aluminum, magnesium, or titanium in the base metal. Metaloy can only be applied to ferrous metal. (carbon and stainless steel.)

TOLERANCES: Metaloy will not build up more than .0002” on the base metal and as such it will not effect tolerances i.e. slide, barrel fitting or the fit of small parts. Metaloy also conforms to the existing surface, threads, flutes, etc. The Metaloy process is of a proprietary nature with quality control being of most importance.

ADVANTAGES: Metaloy is very effective in increasing wear resistance of sliding contact surfaces. It also reduces and in some cases eliminates galling and seizing. Metaloy further provides a barrier against rust, corrosion and abrasion. By applying Metaloy to a hammer, sear and disconnector you protect the contact surfaces of your expensive trigger job.

The coating is extremely hard. At around 70 RC, Metaloy has phenomenal lubricity which will increase the wear life of the parts. The satin finish gives protection against corrosion and actually reduces glare. It will not only enhance the function of your firearm but increase its value as well. All internal parts are processed with the exceptions of springs.

The Original Metaloy Hard Chrome is the hardest finish available anywhere. Metaloy Industries has been around a long time in the same location. We are Hard Chrome professionals.
