Welcome

It really all started when I met Munchkinlane's Agnes, in a showhall in Ft Worth, Texas. It was love at first site. Next to my Sphynx, I thought she was just about the cutest little thing that I had ever seen. But in researching the Munchkin, I found that when working with the Dominant dwarf gene you can only expect half the kittens produced to be dwarf, the other half will be tall. Always, working with Mutation breeds is as challenging as it is rewarding. The tall Munchkins simply look like an ordinary cat, our programs are not focused for that purpose! But then I learned about Paul McSorley's Minskin, they were short, fur-pointed and adorable and even the long-legged ones were unique with that short, soft, downy coat. And better yet, as the Minskin developed further, they began producing some hairless in their litters due to the Sphynx being a part of their foundation programs. The dwarf hairless were not desirable as Minskin, but some of us who were Sphynx breeders at heart fell in love with these darling, naked, dwarf babies and the Bambino was born. Named by Stephanie and Pat Osborne, the Bambino is a dwarf version of our wonderful hairless Sphynx. HoBBiTcaTs is proud to have been a part of the early days of the Minskin and Bambino and just as much so to have produced the first standard Dwelf. Our Bambino, Dwelf and Minskin programs work hand in hand with our Sphynx and Elf programs. From a litter of five kittens, we can produce a Sphynx, an Elf, a Bambino, a Dwelf & a Minskin if that's what we've bred for. Of course, odds are that you'd rarely produce exactly that in each litter, it would be two of this and two of that and one of the other, but over time, it should average that way. However it falls, there won't be one ordinary cat in the bunch and that's been the purpose behind our programs all along. Currently we're working on establishing sound foundations for the hairless new traits. With the addition of the dwarf gene and the curled eared gene, to the already hairless Sphynx gene, we undertook some challenges, but we've reaped the reward of some wonderful babies for our efforts. All good things are worth waiting for, we're working with lives, not something that we stamp out of a mold, this takes time. We're working with other breeders and we're working with TICA, it will take time to reach our goals of acceptance for these new traits. Our programs are focused primarily on helping to found these traits, we share a few cats with programs around the World, we had the pleasure of sending two Elf girls to South Africa in the Fall of 2011 to help found the curled eared programs there. A beautiful Sphynx girl came to us, along with a darling Bambino girl with the bluest eyes you've ever seen. We send thanks to Kathy Hoole and Charon Scheepers for our precious short girl, Azzie, and what she'll bring to our dwarf programs. Our catteries are TICA registered and our kittens are spoiled rotten! Come on in and visit with some of the cutest, sweetest, most unique cats that the World of humans has ever beheld... | |||||||
